Chief of Police Minor Allen
Minor Allen began his career with the Hazard Police Department in July of 1985. Allen attended the DOCJT Academy in 1987 graduating with class 174. September of 1994 was an especially busy year for Allen as he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, was voted Officer of the Year, and was awarded the Meritorious Service Award for his actions during his employment while serving his community. Continuing his leadership, he was promoted to Lieutenant in 1999 and then to Captain in 2001. In 2003 Allen was employed by the Rural Law Enforcement and Technology Center as a Enforcement Technology Specialist where he traveled around the United States instructing Law Enforcement Agencies in the use of a Firearm Simulator and worked heavily in the 1033 program. In 2011, Allen received yet another Meritorious Service Award for his many contributions to the department as the Investigative Section Supervisor. Allen has received many forms of training and is certified as a Driving Instructor through Texas A&M, Firearm Instructor, Accident Reconstructionist through IPTM in Florida, and a Rapid Deployment Instructor through the NTOA. Allen has 18 total years of Military service in active Army and Reserves. He currently retains the rank of Master Sergeant and serves as a Operations NCOIC. His previous role at HPD was the departments Investigations Division Commander and also served as the City of Hazard's Code Enforcement Officer.
